Last weekend, I loaded up the car and took the gang to Boomers in Upland for an afternoon of family time at Boomers in Upland.
**Disclaimer: Boomers provided us four wristbands for unlimited access for the afternoon, but the opinions and photos are my own.**
These are the photos of our craziness.
First though, mini-golf. I love it. I never win, so I tend to take it pretty seriously because I’m sure that one day, if I try hard enough, I will win. Or I at least won’t come in last. It was my lucky day at Boomers — I WON.
That’s the gang!
That was one of my my holes-in-one.
Apparently, I’m an ‘unbearable’ winner, though I’m not sure why. I only reminded the family that I won a few times throughout the rest of the visit.
If you haven’t been to Boomers, it’s a lot more than mini-golf. You can rock climb, drive go-karts, play cosmic mini-golf indoors, play a ton of video games and eat. There are also rides, but everyone in our party was too big for them, even though a couple of though were hoping they could still squeeze in….
Games galore!
Boomers in Upland is located off the Mountain exit on the 10 freeway, with a quick left onto 7th Street. You can’t miss the many buildings and the rock climbing tower.
We headed first to play mini-golf, after Jeanette, the manager-on-duty, set us up with our wristbands.
The courses are maintained, pretty and neat. For being around a long time, everything worked well and was a bright, fun course. After I won, we headed over to the snack bar as we had one “parched and starving” member of the group. One Icee and a bag of Doritos later, we made our way to the rock climbing tower. I did not climb, as someone had to watch the pile of cellphones and accessories, but I did have one hand available to take many photos and videos of the goofiness skill the kids displayed climbing up. Let me just say: the youngest one went the highest.
That’s my oldest and my youngest. The heights quickly changed once youngest got the hang of it!
Go-Kart time! Be prepared, they want you to have any hair longer than shoulder-length tied back, so don’t spend a lot of time on your hair prior. Safety first! They do provide hair ties though I didn’t want any photos with my hair in that very impromptu pony tail. My favorite things though were that they a) don’t overcrowd the track, so you aren’t fighting for space (which is good, as you can’t bump each other) and b) let you ride a long time. It was great!
Then inside for cosmic golfing, which was a blast. We’ve played a lot of mini-golf throughout the years and this was the best indoor golf course yet. The lighting was perfect and seemed in-sync with the pop music that was just loud enough to enjoy while allowing for conversation, things like, “Am I winning again? I think I am…”
Boomers, thank you for the fun day! We spent four hours trying new things and just enjoying good family time. We will be back — and I might even climb next time!
