Some weeks I’m really feeling the TGIF’ness, know what I mean?
Today is one of them.
Thank God, it’s Friday!
What a week. I’ve picked up Charlie (the gimpy, surgery-recuperating 75 pound service dog) more times than I can count, and my back is screaming for everyone to know. Last night, my husband told me to go drink wine. So I did. Then a minute later, he says “Don’t drink anymore.” Huh? What? Three swallows and I’m loopy, what did I say? What did I do? “No, look..there’s a bug in your glass.”
Thanks, fly. You ruined it for me. Then I went to bed.
Anyway, I digress. Aside from the back pain and the heating pad I’m toting from bed to chair to ugly couch, the dog is recovering much faster than I’d pictured earlier this week. We have to remodel my son’s bedroom tonight, in fact, to keep him more safely confined; right now, he’s been seen trying to navigate up and around a video game chair and a four-foot-long stuffed Sonic, just to get out here to see me.
The weather is still cold, and I only have a few things left to do to get the house ready for cold. One of them is NOT raking. It’s a lost cause. I have far too many trees, and I think they are in collusion to cover my grass on a rotational basis. As soon as the yard is cleared, another tree shakes its branches. I’m learning to appreciate the colorful yard now…
Our realtor gave us the rosy news that we need to drop the price of the house. Again. Sigh. Apparently while the market is picking up, it hasn’t quite swung to this section of town yet. The inventory of foreclosures is moving along nicely, but those of us with regular priced homes, or homes in a nicer and therefore pricier area, are still seeing slowness, evidenced by the fact that we’re one of quite a few that has been for sale for months. (And my house is the second to the newest on the market at seven months in. Truly.) This news was not met with a smiling face. Actually, I think it was met with the “Babe, you need wine.” It’s all a blur.
But, at least it’s Friday! No work tomorrow. No getting up at 6am. I’m not sure if that’s more exciting, or the fact that I have reinforcements with doggy lifting duty! Hanging out with friends tomorrow night and completing a book review by Sunday. If I get lucky, I’ll still have time to get out to the studio and work on some resin jewelry I’m making. Or maybe I’m just experimenting. I’ll know more when I try it out.
