Waterproof and Sweatproof Wireless Earbuds for Sweaty Yoga Sessions
A few weeks ago, I began attending physical therapy appointments multiple times per week due to a medical issue with my leg. I love it, but there are days that I don’t feel like getting up, getting dressed and running out the door at 6:45am. On those days, I sleep in a little, drink my coffee, put on workout attire and head to my yoga studio with my iLIVE waterproof wireless earbuds, which are perfect for sweaty yoga sessions.
Because, let’s be honest, if we’re really pushing it in yoga, you’re going to get sweaty. Yoga’s way more than pretty poses and inversions that you see on Instagram. I’ve been practicing for many years now, and I still “glisten”…and I still can’t do a headstand. That gives me something to work towards, right?
Before the pandemic, I worked out regularly at a gym, wearing old school big, clunky headphones. They worked great, but I wore them more for the privacy they gave me than music. I am not the kind of person who likes to get chatty at a gym; I went to work out, get my reps in and bounce. Also, as a woman there alone, I’d get approached at times by people I didn’t want to speak with. Ahhh, I don’t miss those gym days, especially since I’ve invested a lot of money into a quality home workout room and yoga studio.
When I do yoga, I prefer the quiet zen music reminiscent of yoga classes I took when I first started. Ragas, flutes, quiet strings…it’s not just music, it’s an environment, one better experienced with full immersion. In-ear earbuds make that possible, while also blocking out ambient noise. Low quality earbuds can get tinny or distort the music, making it far less than relaxing and very distracting.
This is why I love the iLIVE Waterproof Truly Wireless Earbuds. They are lightweight, yet they easily fit in my ear without any slippage. I have what I feel are small ear canals, making many earbuds uncomfortable. A big plus with these earbuds is that they come with three sizes of eartips, making it perfect for everyone. This pair gets through even the most sweaty yoga sessions without falling out, and I feel like I’m right in the middle of the music.
They also fit around my tragus piercing! It fits snugly without interference of the stud and it’s still easy to wear and remove without getting snagged. Beware: ear close-up ahead.
Like I said, I can’t do inversions. Yet. I am working on it with a yoga headstand bench. It’s not something I’ll share a photo of — trust me, no one wants to see that — but it’s basically a bench where you stick your head through the opening, grab the sides and let your upper body rest against the cushions while you use your core to raise your legs over your head. These waterproof earbuds sit so snugly, I can do this without shaking either of them loose. I could have a meditative music playlist on Spotify and not have it interrupted even a little.
Connecting these earbuds to my phone is simple. They use Bluetooth 5.0, which has more range, more speed and a better broadcasting capacity. This means I can also be further away from my phone without losing signal. (This is super important when I pause my practice to shoo a dog away from my mat.) And if my phone rings? Easy peasy to take the call and easily reconnect my music right after. It has a built-in microphone and lasts give-or-take seven hours of charge time.
Charging these earbuds is simple, using a USB-C to USB cable, connect to the USB port of a powered on computer or USB power adaptor (not included) to charge the case. Pairing is easy and quick, and if you choose to just use one earbud independently, just leave the other in the case. I’ve even run out of my yoga room and into a Zoom call, disconnecting from my music source and reconnecting with my Mac. They really are an all-in-one pair of earbuds, going from my sweaty yoga sessions to a phone call to a business meeting….a business meeting without video, I mean, yoga face.
iLIVE sent me a pair of these earbuds so I could review them and share my feelings with you. You can learn more about them at the iLIVE website. They run around $79 retail, which puts them in an affordable range for a multipurpose set of earbuds; add in that they’re waterproof, and you’re ahead of the game.
Now I’m off to do another sweaty yoga session. I skipped PT this morning, but I’m up for some restorative yoga. If you haven’t tried yoga yet, don’t let the impressive poses you see on Instagram scare you off. Yoga is beneficial for so many needs and skill levels; it doesn’t even need to be sweaty to be good for you, so do what you can and enjoy.
