Easy Mango Margarita on the Rocks Recipe for Single Cocktails
Sometimes you just want a margarita without all the hassle, right?? This easy mango margarita on the rocks recipe can be made in minutes and you can even make it a spicy mango margarita in seconds! Using fresh mangoes gifted to me by Melissa’s Produce, I had a refreshing, tangy margarita for my guests in minutes!
I love blended margaritas sometimes, but I’m not a margarita guzzler. I’m a sipper. Blended drinks often tend to get watered down, and I want something that’s going to taste good pretty much however long it takes me to finally finish it. A mango margarita on the rocks means it’s full of flavor from the first sip to the last, and I don’t even need to make a pitcher just to enjoy one.
A short disclaimer though: this recipe does require mango puree. I prefer to make it quick with fresh mangoes, but you can purchase it in the store. I make mine with an immersion blender in a tall glass; it takes less than 30 seconds to puree the flesh of a mango and you have enough for a few drinks without wasting any mango. Want one drink? Puree just one half of the mango.
Onwards to the making of this super-simple cocktail! Save this post so you can find it later when you’ve got guests over and you want to wow them with a drink, or if you’re like me, this is a delicious drink to enjoy on the patio around the firepit with a good book. Hey, no judgment here. Some weeks are long and relaxing with a bev is just what we need.
Mango Margarita on the Rocks
You can kick it up a notch with some fresh jalapeno slices, making it a Spicy Mango Margarita!
Ingredients
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 oz Triple Sec Cointreau is a good sub
- 2 oz sweet and sour Homemade recipe below!
- 4 oz mango juice Or a juice blend
- 1 oz mango puree
Instructions
-
Mix everything in a shaker, pour into a tall glass, over ice, and garnish with another slice of mango if you want!
-
If you do want to make it spicy, gentle muddle a few slices of fresh jalapeรฑo with the sweet and sour in your shaker before you add everything else. Or, you can add just a few thin fresh jalapeno slices and gently stir to infuse the flavor.
Mangoes come in many varieties and sizes. I have no suggestions on what kind to use, so I think you’re good making this with any kind. For the juice, I chose a Langer’s Mango Passion Fruit juice. No high-fructose corn syrup and not overly sweet. I just can’t with the sweet drinks anymore, so we always opt for juice that’s actual fruit and juice and not concentrate.
For any good margarita, you need a sweet and sour, and we prefer to make our own because it’s so easy and it tastes fresh.

If you choose to use a premade sweet and sour mix, that works too! They are easily found at Total Wine, Bevmo, and most grocery stores.
If you like the idea of a margarita on the rocks but mango isn’t your thing, feel free to sub in another fruit puree. Peach is a great option, as is raspberry, but run that through a cocktail strainer to remove the seeds. I’ve even done it with grapefruit juice! It is sour, but plays well with the sweet and sour addition and the jalapeno slices.
