Get Butterbeer Now at Universal CityWalk Hollywood!

Years ago, we took the kids on a road trip from our then-home in South Carolina to Orlando, Florida. Yes, the home of Disney World and more, but our first stop? Universal Studios to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter when it first opened. My kids had one question: can we get butterbeer? The screams when we said YES made that crazy trip through Tropical Storm Debbie worth every minute of it!

Fast-forward to the crazy year of 2020 and my kids are still butterbeer fans. And so are we. We kept our mugs we’d purchased on that initial trip, and since we moved back to Southern California a short time after, we’ve had a lot more butterbeer since. Each and every time, we have a ‘remember that first time we tried this?’ conversation. And we take photos.

Like this one.

You can see more about our first adventure to get butterbeer here. That’s the same kid as in the photo above! Back then, he was in grade school, having the time of his life with the official wand we got both the kids. Now he’s in college and working and driving a car…and still asking to get butterbeer every time we visit Universal Studios in Hollywood. I love the hot butterbeer and always get it over the holidays, but with the current lockdown closing the parks, we’re bummed to not see the Grinch, ride the new Jurassic Park ride or eat Bangers and Mash at Two Broomsticks.

But, even if we can’t go in the park yet, now we CAN get butterbeer at Universal CityWalk’s newest walk-up location, The Wizarding World of Harry Potterā„¢ā€”Sweets &Ā Treats! The traditional cold version is available, along with the hot and the hard-packed butterbeer ice cream. You can get butterbeer in disposable cups or pay an additional fee to get the souvenir stein. Gilly Water and cinnamon churros are also available.

Our 2020 holidays are going to be different, but we can still find ways to fit in our annual traditions, including a visit to the parks…even if it’s just outside, wandering Universal CityWalk so we can enjoy Voodoo Donuts, lots of restaurants, shopping for Marvel gear…and of course, to get butterbeer.

Happy holidays!
